Digital Packaging Summit 2018 – Defining the future of label & package printing
The Digital Packaging Summit 2018 took place from November 5th – 7th 2018 in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, USA. A unique and highly interactive event developed by nGage Events and the Packaging Group of North American Publishing Company.
Why attend the Digital Packaging Summit?
The event focused on how the widespread changes that are taking place today are redefining the future of label and package printing. Although run lengths are shrinking everywhere, overall volumes are growing, and shorter runs become increasingly commonplace. The workflows and economics of traditional offset and flexographic printing severely limit converters’ productivity and profitability.
Amongst others, the Summit examined how digital answers the need for shorter runs, faster turnarounds, and new levels of customization and personalization. It aimed at offering strategic level insights into what printing and converting industry leaders should do to improve and optimize their business, and how current and future digital production printing technology, software and solutions impacts their business and investment decisions.
Thanks to more than 70 attending companies (many of them packaging and corrugated focused) and the top-notch speakers it was a tremendously successful event. CloudLab was a first-timer at the Digital Packaging Summit, and was represented by Marc Horriar, Founder&CEO of CloudLab, and Steven Antoni, who very recently has been promoted to President at CloudLab, Americas.
Steven’s new role at CloudLab reflects the successful expansion of CloudLab’s market appeal and responds to successful sales in the Americas and the expanded market for our printQ system, which, based on the Magento e-commerce system, offers an unparalleled end-to-end solution for online design and distribution of print products.
CloudLab wins Sponsor Award
CloudLab was asked to present a case study in the folding carton market segment. We decided to choose our customer “Saxoprint” for the case study – a decision that well received: CloudLab won the Sponsor Award for it, and prevailed over the top-class competition HP, Heidelberg and Highcon, all of them known as very innovative and strong players in the packaging segment.
Additionally, CloudLab was one of the 4 finalists for consideration of “Company’s to watch”. The other finalists were Koenig & Bauer, Domino and Screen – all innovative and industry leaders.
The presentation was held by Steven and Marc. Apart from a brief introduction to Saxoprint and some facts and figures, it not only highlighted history and timeline of the project, but also the tasks and challenges the development team overcame during the project cycle. Special attention was given to our new and unique 3D packaging design tool, which allows the customer to freely design own packages, and which recently won the InterTech™ Technology Award 2018.
Through personal interaction and extended networking at the event we had the opportunity to deepen our position as the leading developer and supplier of eCommerce solutions.
